Helle is exhibiting 'The Entropy Collection' a collection of creations made from preloved wool in the Macnaughton Focus Gallery from Friday 30th November 2012 - Sunday 13th January 2013.

This exhibition explores the concept of ‘Entropy’, the second law
of thermodynamics, which states that nature tends from order to
disorder in an isolated system.
I have created a series of sculptural collections which reveal the
order which can come from chaos and waste, in reverse to the
process of Entropy. The collections begin with the gathering of
waste materials and move on to crochet experimentation in form and
texture, arrangement and display.
Before becoming an artist I was a biologist, which allowed me to
observe and understand the extraordinary structural beauty of the
forms in the natural world on a microscopic level. Creating and
assembling the collections mimics the basic process behind the
study of animal and plant morphology. In this way I attempt to
understand form and create order out of chaos.
The collections juxtapose art, craft and science.
